From Finland to Nord Bakes
Nord Bakes began long before the first order was ever placed.
After moving from Finland to the United Kingdom, Markus found himself missing the flavours he had grown up with — especially the traditional foods and bakes that made Christmas feel like home.
Unable to find quite what he was looking for, he started making them himself.
What began as a way to reconnect with home soon became a family tradition. Each year, relatives would ask whether the same breads, pastries and festive favourites would be appearing again. Before long, friends and neighbours were asking too.
That quiet tradition eventually became Nord Bakes.
THOUGHTFULLY MADE
Exceptional baking takes time.
Today, every loaf, pastry and celebration cake is still made by hand in small batches from our kitchen in Market Harborough.
Dough is given time to develop flavour, pastries are made from scratch, and every cake is finished by hand.
Working in small batches means we can focus on quality rather than quantity — the same approach that started Nord Bakes in the first place.

Soft, airy sponge. Fresh cream. Fruity fillings.
Our celebration cakes are deliberately lighter than many traditional UK cakes, with fluffy sponge layered with fresh cream and fruit or jam fillings rather than heavy buttercream.
It's one of the things our customers mention most — light, fresh and surprisingly easy to go back for another slice.
